2024 Information Packet and Contact Info

Each family must complete the 2024 Contact Information Form to ensure coaches have your latest contact information.

Central Pennsylvania Swim League

The Welch Sharks Swim Team is a member of the Central Pennsylvania Swim League (CPSL).

Other CPSL member teams for the 2024 season include:

  • Park Forest Pool (Centre Region Parks and Recreation)
  • Penns Valley (Millheim pool)
  • Science Park Recreation Association (SPRA)

Directions are available to all league pools.

Team Registration

You can register for the team through Centre Region Parks and Rec (CRPR). You’ll need to search for “Swim Team Welch” when registering to make sure your swimmers are registered for the right swim team.

2024 Practice Times

Monday – Friday

  • 13-18 year olds 6:45-8:00am
  • 9-12 year olds 8:00-9:00am
  • 5-8 year olds 9:00-9:45am
  • Monday & Wednesday nights 8:00-9:00pm for swimmers 11 and over

Modified Practice schedule times when indicated on Calendar

  • 11-18 year olds: 8:00–8:45am
  • 9-10 year olds: 8:45–9:30am
  • 5-8 year olds: 9:20–9:55am

Swim Meets

We encourage ALL SWIMMERS to participate in each meet. Meets will be held Thursday evenings. Sign-ups are available at practice. Make-up meets are often scheduled on Tuesdays.

Please stay until the end of the meet to cheer on your friends and the rest of the team! If you must leave early, please let Coach Marion know before you leave.

Swim Team Communications

Primary communications to parents will be through direct email and text messages. The team will be using a tool called Remind to send out messages to parents. Each family must provide at least a primary email address and phone number for urgent communications. Last minute schedule changes and important reminders will be sent to parents. Parent Volunteers for Swim Meets

Volunteers are critical to the success of every swim meet and our team! We ask that all parents volunteer for at least three meets. There are lots of ways to help, so please don’t be intimidated. A description of volunteer positions is available here. Volunteer signups are available on the team website’s Meet and Events tab.

Concessions at Home Meets

The Welch Concession Stand is run at all our home meets. This is THE major fundraiser for the Welch Team. Concession sales help fund activities offered by the swim team. Requests for concession food donations and for stand volunteers will be sent on the Monday before each of our home swim meets. Meet Concession Sign-ups can be found here.

Food Donations

Each family is asked to donate food items that are sold in the concession stand and support our team breakfasts on meet mornings. Please drop off donations any time during practice hours before Monday, June 10th. Click here to sign up for your food donation.

Activities Donation: Welch Coffee Cup or Car Magnet

Each family is asked to donate $10 per swimmer ($20 max per family) to cover the expenses of team activities and gifts (e.g., ice cream social, team brunch, coaches’ gifts). When a family donation is received, they will receive either a Welch Swim Team Coffee Cup or Welch Car Magnet as a “thank you”! Be on the lookout for special free coffee days when you bring your Welch Cup to practice!

Shark Tank Meet

To help parents and swimmers understand the flow of swim meets, we host an intra-squad meet on Saturday, June 8th for all swimmers—it’s called the “Shark Tank Meet.” Dryland warm-ups will begin at 7:40am. The meet will begin at 8:00am. We want all swimmers and families to participate in this event. Bring money for pancakes! Apparel will also be on sale!

Swim Team Apparel

We have a selection of Welch t-shirts, hats, and hoodies available for cash and carry purchase. These will be available at the pre-season meeting, the Shark Tank meet (June 8th) and at home swim meets.

Team Swimsuits – Welch Sharks Swim Team Store!

Team swimsuits are optional, but highly recommended. This year, suits can be ordered from Swim Outlet. Suits will be sent directly to you.

Suit try-ons will be available at the info session being held on Saturday, May 18th at Welch Pool from 12:00-2:00pm, June 6th and 7th BEFORE practice, and June 8th BEFORE the Shark Tank meet!

There is a three-week turnaround for these custom suits, so order today to have them by our first swim meet, June 11th!

Stroke and Turn Training

At each meet, several volunteers serve as stroke and turn judges. A free training will be scheduled. This is a great way for parents to help the team and learn more about the strokes!

End-of-Season Brunch and Awards – Friday, July 26th from 8:30-10:30am at Welch

Mark your calendars for Friday, July 26th from 8:30-10:30am for the end-of-season team brunch and award ceremony. This is a great time to reflect on the season, enjoy some food together, and recognize our great swimmers! All swimmers receive a team gift at the brunch.
